Biography
Lea Sultan Celik Sommerseth Shaw
Lea Sultan Celik Sommerseth Shaw is a cultural founder, writer, composer, publisher, and independent thinker whose work bridges philosophy, heritage, diplomacy, and artistic creation. Known for her multidisciplinary pursuits across literature, music, cultural research, and geopolitical thought, she has devoted her life to the exploration of civilization, the preservation of heritage, and the promotion of peace and cultural dialogue among nations.
Born on 23 October 1980 in İzmir (Smyrna), a historic Mediterranean city once central to the cultural exchange between East and West, Lea Celik Sommerseth Shaw grew up in Gothenburg, Sweden, within a family environment that valued intellectual inquiry, religious tolerance, and cross-cultural dialogue. From an early age she developed a deep interest in philosophy, history, and the origins of civilization, particularly the traditions that shaped the Mediterranean and the ancient Near East.
Her early life was marked by profound personal events that shaped her philosophical outlook and spiritual inquiry. As a teenager she experienced the tragic loss of close family members in the 1998 Backa fire in Gothenburg. The experience profoundly influenced her path, leading her toward meditation, theology, and the study of philosophy as a means of understanding humanity, suffering, and the moral evolution of society.
Over time, Sommerseth Shaw developed a body of work that reflects a unique synthesis of artistic creativity and philosophical exploration. She has worked as a writer, composer, and creative director, producing independent cultural projects across literature, music, and film. Her publications explore the intersections between art, philosophy, political thought, and global cultural movements. Among her works are titles such as Marcello di Fellini and Tupac and the Echoes from the Motherland, which examine cultural icons and their influence on social consciousness and artistic expression.
Her intellectual pursuits extend beyond artistic production into broader philosophical questions concerning civilization, human development, and the ethical foundations of societies. Sommerseth Shaw has dedicated much of her research to the study of ancient civilizations—particularly Mesopotamia and the Abrahamic traditions—seeking to understand how early human societies developed systems of law, governance, spirituality, and philosophical thought that continue to shape the modern world.
In recent years, she has articulated a broader cultural and humanitarian vision through the founding concept of Mesopotamia, a symbolic initiative conceived on unclaimed land and intended to revive the ancient spirit of the land between the rivers as a place of peace, tolerance, and intellectual exchange. This initiative reflects her belief that the heritage of ancient civilizations can inspire modern frameworks for diplomacy, cultural dialogue, and ethical leadership.
The project is also rooted in the preservation of family heritage. Sommerseth Shaw’s husband’s family traces its lineage to the historic royal house of Egypt, descending from King Farouk I, the last reigning monarch of Egypt and Sudan. Through this connection, the founding vision seeks to safeguard both historical memory and family legacy, ensuring continuity for future generations.
At the heart of this vision stands her son, William Sommerseth Shaw, for whom the preservation of heritage, cultural identity, and philosophical legacy forms an essential part of the founding purpose. The initiative therefore serves both as a cultural project and as a generational legacy rooted in responsibility toward the future.
Now based in Paris, Lea Sultan Celik Sommerseth Shaw continues to pursue her work across philosophy, literature, music, and cultural development while advocating for a world guided by wisdom, tolerance, and respect for human dignity. Her work reflects a belief that civilizations endure not only through power or empire, but through the preservation of knowledge, culture, and ethical responsibility.
Through her writings, creative works, and philosophical initiatives, Sommerseth Shaw seeks to revive the enduring ideals that once flourished in the ancient world: the pursuit of knowledge, the protection of heritage, and the creation of societies founded upon peace, justice, and cultural understanding.
Her life’s work stands as an ongoing effort to bridge past and future—drawing from the wisdom of ancient civilizations while seeking to cultivate a modern vision of harmony among peoples and nations.
